This California Estates auction consists of a large selection of Asian Antiques and Fine Estate Jewelry from local Bay Area estates. This auction features over 35 lots of Chinese jade and silver from a single estate, The Sutton Collection (see further provenance information below). Other highlights include a selection of Chinese paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, and miniature Chinese porcelain c. 1670-1720. This auction will also feature porcelain, vintage Chinese boxes, snuff bottles, and bronze, as well as a selection of cloisonné, cinnabar, and plique a jour. Featured selections in Estate Jewelry include a lady's Tahitian pearl necklace with a diamond-decorated 14kt gold clasp and a blue sapphire and diamond 14kt platinum ring. There is a fine selection of sterling silver and 14kt-18kt gold jewelry featuring diamonds, sapphire, pearl, opal, and more. This auction will also feature jade, turquoise, onyx, and coral jewelry. The Sutton Collection provenance: Mrs. Ellen Sutton, born in South Carolina, owned her own modeling agency on the East Coast, was an avid competitive pilot, and traveled the world with her husband. Throughout the mid- to late-1900s, Mrs. Sutton would purchase many items throughout Asia and have them shipped back to the United States. Mrs. Sutton had a particular interest in Chinese culture and began accumulating fine Chinese collectibles, including this jade and silver.
